We left the harbor at 10pm. The day before the Pacific Dawn and Mirage both got boat-limits of white seabass, so we had high hopes of getting lucky. We arrived at Santa Rosa Island well before sunrise, and attempted to snag some squid. We didn't have much luck, only 6 pieces. Thankfully Joe on the Mirage helped us out. THANKS Joe. It was slow-going in the morning; nobody in the fleet was catching. Here is a shot of some of the guys soaking squid with Santa Rosa in the background. Check out how green the island is.

We left Port Hueneme at 9:45 with hopes of cashing in on the hot white seabass bite out at Santa Rosa Island. A cold front had moved in, and the forcast was for scattered showers and wind to 20 knots. Surprisingly, the weather was absolutlely awesome! Crossing the channel was like being on a lake! We got out to Santa Rosa and attempted to snag some squid. We tried quite a few spots, but unfortunately had little success. Then the squid floated! What a sight to see!

We snagged and scooped enough squid to fill the tanks, and load up with fresh-dead. Once we were done making bait we started fishing. Here is a shot of the sunrise.
